Interactive Media *

This professionally oriented program helps students develop practical skills in interactive media through class work, internships and practical experience. At the same time, the program encourages students to obtain a broad liberal arts education so they will understand the theories, design, legalities and applications of new technologies in society..

Requirements and Checksheets
Due to revisions to the SMAD curriculum, students may have different requirements based on when they were admitted to the major. To keep track of the different requirements, SMAD employs different "Major Requirements" and "Checksheets." Please use the materials below that correspond to time you were notified of admission to SMAD. If you have questions, contact your advisor.

* This concentration became "Converged Media" during the summer of 2009. Students admitted to SMAD in the spring of 2009 or later are under the new concentration. For information on the requirements, check this link.

The JMU Journalism Alumni site is for JMU alumni who studied journalism, broadcasting or public relations or related areas at JMU, or who worked in these fields at JMU or after graduation. It is open to alums regardless of JMU major or current occupation.
