1st Place Departmental/School Site

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The SMAD website was recently awarded first place in the Departmental/School category of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) "Best of the Web" competition.

Submissions are encouraged from educators and graduate students in journalism or mass communication programs at the university level. All entries are peer-reviewed and judged on content, aesthetic quality, user interface, navigation and use of technology.

The competition has been conducted since 1997 and awards are given in four categories; Department or School Sites, Teaching Sites, Journalism Sites and Creative Sites.

The SMAD website was created by SMAD Director and Professor Steve Anderson, who teaches classes primarily in interactive media and corporate communication.

The winners will present their sites at the Best of the Web panel on August 7th at 5:00 p.m. during the AEJMC National Convention in Chicago.
