The Breeze Named Finalist for National Award

Posted by SMAD September 5, 2007

The Associated Collegiate Press has named The Breeze and a Breeze photojournalist as finalists in its annual competition. The national organization named The Breeze a contender in the Ad/Editorial Supplement category for the Madison 101 orientation supplement that came out this summer/fall. The Breeze joins San Francisco State University and Brigham Young University in competing for first place.

The organization also named a Breeze photographer (and current managing editor) as a finalist in the news photography division. Evan Dyson's photo of a vigil at Virginia Tech following the April shootings is among several entries vying for the award.

Other finalists are from Colorado State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Kentucky, East Carolina University and North Carolina State University. The Breeze and the newspaper at East Carolina U. are the only two-non dailies on the list, so Evan is among quite a group.

Winners will be announced at a national convention in October in Washington, D.C.
