Graduation Application Procedures and Deadlines

Posted by SMAD August 29, 2007

Students intending to graduate in December or May need to be aware of deadlines for graduation application.

December Graduation
Application Due to First Major Advisor: June 1st
Application Due to the Registrar: June 15th

May Graduation
Application Due to First Major Advisor: October 15th
Application Due to the Registrar: November 15th

These dates are firm and failure to adhere to any of them may result in a student not graduating during their anticipated timeframe.

Graduation Application Process
1). Pick an "Application for a Bachelor's Degree" form at the Registrar's Office in Warren Hall or in the main SMAD office (Harrison 0276). Complete the form listing major and minor classes in which you are currently enrolled or plan to take before graduation. Don't forget to include SMAD 400: Assessment on the form and then remember to take the spring "Assessment Test" in the spring semester before you graduate.

2). Go on e-campus and print out your "Degree Progress Report."

3). If you have a minor, Take your "Application for a Bachelor's Degree" form and your "Degree Progress Report" to your MINOR advisor. Once they have signed it, you'll need to pick it up and go on to step 4.

4). Take your "Application for a Bachelor's Degree" form and your "Degree Progress Report" to your MAJOR advisor. (If you have more than one major, take the form to your second major advisor first. When completed by the second major advisor, you'll need to pick it up and deliver it to the first major advisor).

5). After your major advisor has reviewed and signed the form, the form will go to the main SMAD office for review by SMAD's Director. You will need to pick up the form from the SMAD office and take it to the Registrar's Office in Warren Hall.

The process is not complete until all of the steps have been followed and you have delivered the form, with all the reviews and signatures, to the Registrar's Office.
