Converged Media Tenure-Track or Renewable Term Position
Beginning Fall 2010
The School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track or renewable-term assistant/associate professor in converged media beginning in August 2010.
We seek a student-oriented colleague with a strong professional background in Web and interactive production who is committed to producing compelling stories in a converged-media environment. This position will contribute to all levels of our Converged Media curriculum, including at least one of our foundation areas (Web, print design, video, and audio production). The ability to teach professional software, including Adobe Creative Suite 4, is required. Candidates should have a record of, or potential for, outstanding teaching.
SMAD provides one of the finest media production facilities in the country. Its interactive media lab offers instructional workspace for creating graphics, webpage layouts, Flash animation, and video.
SMAD has four concentrations: Converged Media, Corporate Communication, Digital Video and Cinema, and Journalism. Our faculty represents a blend of professional and academic interests. All SMAD faculty members are involved in teaching, service, and research or creative activities. An MFA or Ph.D. is required for a tenure-track appointment; ABD applicants with the degree near completion will be considered. A master's degree is required for renewable-term appointment. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
