Corporate Communication Tenure-Track Position

The School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant/associate professor with teaching and professional experience in corporate communication beginning in August 2008. 

We seek a student-oriented colleague who is committed to teaching and research or other creative endeavors. We welcome applicants interested in teaching a spectrum of professional skills and theoretical approaches, as well as making contributions to our evolving curriculum. This new position is open to a range of teaching possibilities, including corporate communication, principles of advertising, media writing, and new information and communication technologies. Candidates should have a record of, or potential for, outstanding undergraduate teaching. The ability to teach courses in one or more of our concentrations is a plus.

Our School has five concentrations: Corporate Communication, Journalism, Digital Video, Interactive Media and Cinema Studies, and our faculty represent a blend of professional and academic interests. The school has 20 faculty members and approximately 600 undergraduates in the major.  In 2005, SMAD moved into a new facility that includes seven converged media labs and a state-of-the-art high-definition television studio. 

An MFA or Ph.D. is required; ABD applicants with the degree near completion will be considered.  All department faculty members are involved in teaching, service, and creative, research or professional activities.  Salary and rank commensurate with education and experience.  For more information about our program, visit smad.jmu.edu.
