The School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) at James Madison University invites applications for two tenure-track or renewable-term assistant/associate professor positions beginning in August 2013.
Web Design (Posting Number: 0405122)
We seek a student-oriented colleague to teach the web design and production portion of our foundation course and contribute to other areas of our curriculum. The foundation course includes an introduction to HTML and CSS, basic web-design principles, and various production techniques. Research and/or creative strength beyond the foundations level is highly desirable and the successful candidate will also be afforded the opportunity to teach other courses in her/his area of academic or media expertise.

SMAD provides one of the finest media production facilities in the country. Its media labs offer instructional workspace for creating graphics, animation, audio, video, web sites, and apps.
SMAD has four concentrations: Converged/Interactive Media, Corporate Communication, Digital Video and Cinema, and Journalism. Our faculty represents a blend of professional and academic interests. All SMAD faculty are engaged in teaching, service, and research or creative activities. An MFA or Ph.D. is required for a tenure-track appointment; ABD applicants with the degree near completion will be considered. A master's degree is required for a renewable-term appointment. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
