Web/Converged Media Tenure-Track or Renewable Term Position

The School of Media Arts & Design (SMAD) at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track or renewable-term assistant/associate professor in interactive media beginning in August 2012.
We seek a student-oriented colleague with a strong professional background in web and interactive production who is committed to producing compelling content in an interactive media environment. This position will contribute to all levels of our Interactive Media curriculum, including at least one of our foundation areas (Web, print design, video, and audio production). The ability to teach professional software (including Adobe Creative Suite 5), web standards, and current technology trends is required.
SMAD provides one of the finest media production facilities in the country. Its media labs offer instructional workspace for creating graphics, animation, audio, video, web sites, and apps.
SMAD has four concentrations: Converged/Interactive Media, Corporate Communication, Digital Video and Cinema, and Journalism. Our faculty represents a blend of professional and academic interests. All SMAD faculty are involved in teaching, service, and research or creative activities. An MFA or Ph.D. is required for a tenure-track appointment; ABD applicants with the degree near completion will be considered. A master's degree is required for a renewable-term appointment. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
