Olympus - Student Project - SMAD seniors Scott Brody and Tim Farley have created a wonderful, multi-episode comedy, called Olympus, for their Senior Honors Thesis Project. This year long project gave these two students an opportunity to develop the concept for this series, write and produce all of the episodes. | Computer Security Awareness Video Contest 2006 - Student Project - The EDUCAUSE/Internet2 Computer and Network Security Task Force and the National Cyber Security Alliance would like to announce the winners of a computer security awareness video contest, which was held as part of a national campaign to raise awareness of and increase computer security at colleges and universities. The contest searched for two categories of short computer awareness videos that addressed a broad range of security topics or focused on a single security issue. Submissions were developed by college students for college students. The winning videos are featured here and will be used in campus security awareness campaigns and efforts. Speechless - Student Project - SMAD Digital Video students Nathan Burns, Lauren Meyer, Robert Kramer, Sierra Neal and Peter Dwyer produced this video as their entry in the inaugural Apple Insomnnia Film Festival. The Festival is the first ever film festival that challenges college students to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just one day. There were approximately 216 entries from 90 universities ranging from USC, UCLA, Loyola Marymount, New York University, Ohio State, MIT, Full Sail, to smaller community colleges. The Thrill of the Taste - Student Project - The 19th Annual Virginia Film Festival featured a handful of JMU's SMAD students in the third installment of the Volvo Adrenaline Film Project. Director Nicholas Lazo, Producer Lauren Meyer and Camera Operator Nathan Burns were assigned their genre, prop, and line of dialogue Wednesday night and given 72 hours to write, cast, shoot, edit, and screen a short film. Their action-adventure short featured a cast and crew of JMU students and revolved around their prop--a bottle of Miracle Whip. One Day/One Community - Student Project - This video was recorded in one day, April 22, 2003, by students, alumni and friends of the School of Media Arts & Design. Students from John Woody's SMAD 402, Advanced Video Post-Production class coordinated the entire production utilizing 13 Final Cut Pro edit systems. The group post-produced the final version in less than one week. The program is sold by the School to raise funds for the One Day/One University scholarship fund. View QuickTime >>> |

NASA Langley Research Center's Office of Education produces this series and professor Rustin Greene developed the series and wrote the first five episodes. KSNN was awarded the Parents Choice 2000 Gold Award for children's television, and 1st Place in the 2000 Broadcast Education Association's Production Competition. One Day/One University - Student Project - This was an extraordinary project, capturing a day in the life of James Madison University. Eighty advanced students, 17 crews, 20 alumni, and 79 hours of footage shot all in one day. The School raised over $15,000 on the sale of the tapes, and used it to launch the School of Media Arts and Design Scholarship Fund. Pat McGee Band Live - Student Project - This video was the major project in professor John Woody's advanced video class last year. To raise funds for our scholarship fund, we invited the Pat McGee Band to give a concert at JMU.
