<description>The first SMAD Day was very well attended by students and alumni. The day began with facility tours and an open house. Careers sessions in the morning and afternoon were packed. The evening SMAD Spring Banquet had approximately 220 people in attendance and featured CNN correspondent Jim Acosta as the keynote speaker.

<title>The Breeze Wins Multiple Awards</title>

<description>Two organizations, The Virginia Press Association (VPA) and the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers (CNBAM), have given the staff of James Madison University's student newspaper several awards. Of those awards, The Breeze won two first-place honors from VPA. Sports Editor Tim Chapman, a sophomore who in April will begin work as the newspaper's editor-in-chief, won first place in the news-series category for his pieces about a JMU basketball player who had lost three close relatives in just six months. The CNBAM recognized The Breeze advertising staff, led by SMAD senior Gil Harrison, for excellence in advertising.

<title>Evan Dyson and Curio Win SPJ Awards</title>

<description>SMAD Major and Breeze Managing Editor Evan Dyson has won two firsts, three seconds and a third place for his photos in the regional conference of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ). Curio also won a first as best feature magazine and the articles on mountaintop removal and Haiti also won first and second for best magazine articles.

<title>Digital Video and Cinema Studies Concentrations Combine to Form "Digital Video & Cinema"</title>

<description>Beginning this summer, SMAD is combining the existing Digital Video (DV) and Cinema Studies (CS) concentrations into a new concentration called Digital Video and Cinema (DVC). This affects both newly admitted students and those currently in either DV or CS. The new concentration achieves several goals.

<title>SMAD Summer 2008 Class Offerings</title>
